1. take stock
Make a list of all the print you've bought in the last couple of years. Lay one of each out on a table and consider the job each of them performs and how successfully they're achieving what you need. What could you do differently?
2. Top up during offers
Top up on essentials (letterheads, business cards, brochures...) if they come up on offer. We make this easy with a monthly email. If it's just a reorder, we'll have your artwork immediately ready to go. Job done in less time than it takes to make a cuppa.
3. order enough
Ordering stationery more than once a year? Save money by ordering a larger batch. Once. Might seem like a no-brainer, but it's mad how many businesses do this! For example, buy 2000 instead of 1000 Corporate Letterheads and save £30+vat (plus your time/cost for admin). Incremental savings in a business will have a positive direct result to the bottom line.
4. Dual/multi purpose print
Maybe you're using 2 or 3 different brochures or have to change your brochure as it has a price list on it. It's worth considering a larger brochure (eg 4 panel instead of 3, A4 instead of A5) to do the same job for less cost. A prices insert for your brochure will give more longevity to the brochures (see Tip #3).
5. slow your print
Get the same print for less just by choosing the slower turnaround. It's literally that easy. For example, buy 2000 Corporate Letterheads and choose 6 working days instead of 3 and save £11.80+vat.
So when you're planning print for an event or just topping up on essentials, don't leave it to the last minute and you'll be quids in!
1. simply WRITTEN MARKETING
With written marketing, bulk delivered to your audience, it's helpful to imagine you're giving a speech. By reading out your pitch and persuading listeners you're credible. It helps refine your message.
That means 'talking' in clear, short sentences. With simple words. It's not dumbing down. It's just that long words and long sentences cause readers to pause, to slow down and stop.
Use "you" and "we". A lot. They help clarify things. A lot. They help you connect with the reader. And that builds trust.
2. Support your online message
48% of consumers choose not to buy from a company because they don't trust them (ref: Edelman Trust Barometer, 2016). That's a lot of missed business.
TNS MarketReach asked people about the post and email they get from businesses. Whilst folk see email as quick, printed mail is seen as more believable.
It's not surprise that people trust print more than digital. In fact, 70% of people said printed mail gives them a better impression of a business.
3. influential print
Believe it or not, people are influenced by the type of paper or board you use. It's part of your brand. It subconsciously signals whether you're frugal or luxurious.

it's great to be back
So this is an incredibly exciting, long-awaited moment for me. Following a longer-than-expected period of working from home in Haddington, I'm excited to relaunch my business in Edinburgh from a great little mezzanine studio just off Ferry Road.
All you working parents will know the pressure of juggling a business with family. It's a painful joy. Before children I was flying high running the printing.com branch at Tollcross and supporting/developing new 'franchises'. Add in one child. Add in another. Couple that with a daily 45 mile commute and not long after that it was clear life was just too full on (imagine falling asleep in the car at a petrol pump and being woken by a stranger who must have wondered if I was still breathing!).
So, here I am 5 years on with a new studio space and my passion for design and print still intact, I'm ready to meet lots of new businesses and get stuck into the next phase of my journey. I'd also love to reconnect with anyone with whom I lost touch, I feel like the new girl in town, so a friendly face is always welcome!
